Article IX                Delete entire article since it is redundant with BOO Chapter VI, Sections G-6.0300 and G-6.0400.*

 

Article X                 Amend to eliminate specification of the number of active elders. The BOO does not explicitly specify the number of active elders on session; however, BOO Chapter X, Section G-10.0202 implies that the minimum number is 6. “A quorum of the session shall be the pastor or other presiding officer and one third of the elders but no fewer than two, … “ The actual number of active elders is determined through election by the congregation in accordance with BOO Chapter VI, Section G-6.0302; Chapter VII, Section G-7.0302; Chapter XIV, Sections G-14.0220 and G-14.0230. Thus, the minimum number of active elders is 6 and the maximum is at the discretion of the congregation.

 

Article XI                Delete entire article. Session responsibilities are set forth in BOO Chapter X, Section G-10.0102, and it is at the discretion of session to organize itself into committees as necessary to meet those responsibilities.

(Note: deletion of this article dictates appropriate editorial amendments to any and all other articles which include reference to any of the previously designated session committees.)

 

Article XII               Amend to eliminate the specification of the number of active deacons. There are no specifications for the number of active deacons in the BOO. (In fact, deacons are optional per BOO Chapter VI, Section G-6.0407.) Thus, determining the number of deacons defaults to the congregation, Per BOO Chapter XIV, Sections G-14.0220 and G-14.0230.

 

Article XIII              Delete entire article. Hiring and management of lay professional staff is a responsibility of the Session per BOO Chapter X, Section G-10.0102n.

 

Article XIV             No changes

 

Article XV              Minor editorial changes to accommodate deletion of references to “Administration Committee” in XV.8 and XV.12 to be consistent with the deletion of Article XI wherein session committees were specified.      

 

Article XVI             Delete entire article. The use of church facilities falls under the control of the Session per BOO Chapter X, Section G-10.0102o.
